Salman Celebrity guests Lara Dutta on ‘Dus Ka Dum’

As Salman’s ‘Dus Ka Dum’ is all setting up to wrap up, it has a lot of guest celebrities in store for its viewers. After Jeetendra and Tushaar Kapoor, Rani Mukherji, Lara Dutta and Rakhi Sawant will be seen sharing the television screen with Salman in the show.

Salman is known to get along very well with his celebrity guests and this was evident with the way Salman was made the studio echoed with laughter and enjoyment as entertained everybody with spotty one-liners. One thing which was very very obvious was Salman’s cold behavior with Lara. He mingled quite well with Rani and Rakhi, but not with Lara Dutta.

In fact, Lara felt completely ignored as Salman gave her a cold shoulder and didn’t even speak to her much. This behavior of Salman has its roots to the time when Lara refused a role in his next ‘Main aur Mrs. Khanna’ on the plea that her role was very short. But then Sallu Mian was shocked when she went ahead and agreed to do a smaller role in Shahrukh’s ‘Billoo Barber’.

Salman made no efforts to hide the cold vibes between himself and Lara. Whether his behavior was justified or not, is up to you to decide.

Beauty queen Lara Dutta domestic chores

IImagine a popular actress and former beauty queen mopping the floor or stoking fire in a chulha.

That and more actress Lara Dutta had to do for Shahrukh Khan’s home production Billoo Barber in which she plays the wife of a poor village barber, played by Irrfan Khan .

Director Priyadarshan made sure that Lara’s character of a deglam housewife looked as real as possible. Along with his cinematographer, Priyadarshan went to shop for the saris that Lara wears in the film. And he did not pick any designer saris, but plain, cotton, crumpled saris purchased from roadside shops.

On top of it Priyadarshan made Lara go barefoot for her role. She was made to do all the domestic chores that any village housewife does – fetching water from well, washing and cleaning work, cooking food on a chulha, feeding the goats and, not to forget, feeding her husband.

Lara says she hasn’t slogged so harder in her entire life as she did in the 20 days she shot for ‘Billoo Barber’ in Pollachi.

The movie has Shahrukh Khan playing a superstar who comes to shoot in a village where his childhood friend, a poor barber, lives.

Beautiful Actress Lara Dutta Humanitarian

Lara Dutta is not just one of the most beautiful and gifted actresses of her generation, currently filming for Blue, Banda Yeh Bindass Hai and Billo Barber. She is also a living embodiment of the concept of the three goods – mind, body and soul.Lara was Miss Universe in 2000 and appears to have taken seriously all those things that beauty queens say during the interview stage.
She is well known for her work on Aids Awareness but is lesser known for the important work she is doing with the United Nations Missing Programme where she is active in the promotion of Female Reproductive Rights.

Throughout the world, there is a tendency for more men to be born than women even in situations where there is no interference during pregnancy or at birth. The reasons for this are not entirely clear but Hamilton’s theory suggests that it may occur through an overshoot – essentially the species seeking to ensure that it always has enough males to ensure continuity. A larger number of men will die through accidents, war etc during the most fertile period of 13-33. In humans, therefore, the normal ratio is 996 women to every 1000 men.

However, in India, there has always been a tendency to value sons over daughters at birth – in 1901 the ratio was 972 due to infanticide. The ratio in India now has declined to 933. This may no longer be due to infanticide but is more likely linked to selective abortion. In states such as Kerala, where there is less access to ultrascan equipment and a much lower social acceptance of abortion, the ratio is much higher.

In some states, it is even worse. In the three big northern states of Punjab, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir, it is 874, 861 and 900 respectively. These figures suggest that throughout India as a whole, 3.2 million girls go ‘missing’ every single year – as many as 240 million in the course of a single person’s lifetime. In the state of Punjab (population 40 million), 250,000 girls alone are ‘missing’ every single year. The situation is now so grave that the United Nations has coined a new word for it – Femicide.

It is illegal in India to abort a foetus purely on the basis of sex but this is clearly widely ignored.

It is this issue that concerns Lara Dutta, who is an Economics graduate and who has been a UNPFA Goodwill Ambassador since 2001. With the deep social concern of actors such as Lara and Nandita Das, it’s clear to see that Bollywood need not just be about being a pretty face.

Tamil Actress Asin Rises on Bollywood Films

Asin, 26, Malayalee who was born and brought up in Cochin is set to make her Bollywood debut with Ghajini, opposite Aamir Khan. Asin also tarred in the Tamil and Telugu versions of Ghajini earlier.

Even before the release of Ghajini, Asin has been signed up for two more Bollywood films– Aise Ko Taisa directed by Priyadarshan with co-stars Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal; and London Dreams directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah with co-stars Ajay Devgan, Lara Dutta, Salman Khan and Urmila Matondkar.
